I would love more than anything to go to France for the 2011 Spring Semester with AFS. However, in order to do so, I need to raise a lot of money. Money is really tight right now but my family would love to see me go (even if my mother is extremely reluctant to be far away from me). I am currently in the process of looking and applying for a job and hopefully I get one very soon! I plan on doing a bunch of fundraising in the next six months. The tuition all together is $9,500 and I hope I can get the money I need either through these donations, fundraisers, scholarships, and/or financial aid. Not only that but I need to earn money to help pay for my visa and passport (roughly $450) and personal spending money for France. I'm determined and have a lot of faith that I can do this.
There a lot of reasons why I would love to go to France. To begin with, I have been in French class since my freshman year and I love the language and learning about the culture. I feel this experience will help me become fluent in French and I will get to do so many things that I could not otherwise do while in the US; I will be able to fully immerse myself in the French culture and I sincerely believe that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will help me become a more well rounded person. In return, I will do my best to be a positive ambassador and once I return back to the US, I will encourage more people to do something like this.
I am already an avid blogger so this is so great that I can raise money that will help send me to France! I will be updating often about my journey to France and my experiences there! Along with posting pictures!
